So last week we had a very different type of wine tour. Most of the wine tours we do here in Temecula are bachelorette parties or birthdays.

In this case our main guest told us he wanted to surprise his girlfriend during our tour and propose to her!

He invited his and her family out on the wine tour. She just thought it was a get together for the Christmas holidays!

None the less, we took charge and planed out the day. 

The main guest had an airplane lined up that had a banner flying behind it. This read "Chris Loves Amanda" (names of the main guests). 

We found a really nice spot at Callaway Winery that would be perfect for the airplane flyover and photos etc.

We had to lure Amanda (his girlfriend) out to a pretty spot without her getting suspicious.

So here is a video taken on December 8, 2018. It shows a little bit about the lunch portion of our tour that day. We were set up on the VIP lunch area overlooking the De Portola wine trail in Temecula. We had 3 tours at the same time for lunch. Had a great time with all of our great guests. Just so happened that all 3 groups were celebrating birthdays. 

Crazy how the weather can go from literally 45 and raining heavily to 75 and sunny just 3 days later. What a picture perfect day. Couldn't ask for a better day that's for sure.

On another tour just about 1 hour after this video was shot we had the opportunity to take out a man who proposed to his girlfriend during one of our tours. He obviously surprised her and had both the now bride to be's family as well as his family there to witness the special occasion. To respect the families privacy we will wait to get permission before posting the long form video but can't wait for you all to see it!

In any case what a great weekend we had out on the Temecula wine tour trail.

The Temecula Limo Company

There are obviously tons of limousine companies out there. We would like to take a moment to talk about the differences between a limousine aka 'transportation' company and a wine tour company like ourselves

Limo companies typically will charge you by the hour to charter their vehicles. That typically includes a driver who will take you anywhere you want. The driver will generally sit in the car while you are at your destination and wait for your call to come drive up and pick you up to take you to the next place. Not much interaction other than opening and closing a door for you. Not at all saying that is bad just stating the obvious.

Limo companies typically will not have a tour guide that sets up your wine tasting, sets up lunches, gives tours of a facility, serve appetizer platters, etc. They are there to just basically get you from point A to B on time in a nice vehicle. Uber on steroids!

The Temecula Wine Tour Company

Wine Tour Companies may have limousines in their fleet, party buses etc. While they serve as transportation they also do a lot more than just drive you to your destination an dump you off.

We can't speak for all wine tour companies. But some of the things we do differently than just pick you up and drop you off would include

• Decorating your bus based on the occasion. Example: A bachelorette party. You can see more info on our bachelorette parties by going here. We will spend a long time decorating your vehicle, typically a party bus based on your theme.
• Serving champagne to your guests in the party bus itself. Our guides will pop open a bottle of some bubbly and pour you a glass while you are on your way to your destination
• Taking photos for our guests while inside your party bus to save the memories forever
• Going inside each winery with your group to set up and pre-pay for your wine tasting tickets - which are always included with each tour
• Taking photos of your guests at each winery and making sure everything runs smoothly inside each winery so that you don't have to worry about it yourself
• Set up your lunch in a beautiful scenic setting. We will have your lunch set up and ready by the time you arrive at your last winery. No worry about finding a place to sit or set up. We have it handled!

Long story short. We are not just here to drive you to a winery and dump you off while we go sit and read a book in our limo and wait for your call to come pick you up. We go with you and go out of our way to ensure you are shown a one of a kind wine tasting experience that is organized and most of all FUN! We don't charge by the hour. So there is never a worry about going over in time or getting charged extra because we go over by 15 minutes.

So we get a lot of questions regarding the types of buses we use for our Temecula wine tours. It can be a tad confusing with all of the terminology. So let's break down the different types of buses that are used in wine tours and explain which style of bus we use for our guests.

Party Bus aka Limo Bus

We exclusively use party buses aka limo buses. "Party Bus" and "Limo Bus" is generally the same thing. Companies will use the term "Limo Bus" to typically attract corporate clients whereas the term "Party Bus" appeals to more of a 'party' crowd. But terms aside these are the same style bus.

Here is an example of the inside of one of our "party buses" or "limo buses"

You can see the seating in a party  bus / limo bus is not rows of seats like in an airplane like you would see in a shuttle bus (See below). Everyone faces each other, there is lighting, and great stereo systems. Also most party buses will have a mini bar inside.

We have found that guests have a much better over all experience in a party bus than a shuttle bus. Our guests want to feel like they are together and not separated by rows of seats like in an airplane.

Shuttle Bus

The other style of bus would be a shuttle bus. Some companies will also call a shuttle bus a 'limo coach' to sound more fancy to corporate clients.

Shuttle buses have rows of seats like you would see in an airplane. Typically shuttle buses are used for long distance trips or for shuttling random groups of people from place to place. We do not use shuttle buses as we have found that our guests don't feel like they are experiencing anything other than just a generic ride. We like to make the ride be part of your overall wine tasting experience.
