You may see people swirl and sniff their wine before they actually drink it. That may seem silly to some people. But it actually does serve a big purpose.
You will want to swirl the wine to 'open it up' a bit. This allows oxygen into the wine from the air. This allows you to experience the great 'nose' of the wine. Sometimes the 'nose' on the wine can be equally as pleasant as the taste!
Sometimes the 'nose' on the wine is great but the taste isn't all that great
For some the perfect wine is one that the 'nose' lives up to the taste.
Then there are those that don't really care and just want to pound everything in sight... and that's fine too lol
